Allianz Commercial Appoints Gordan Stanojević as New Regional Head of Distribution for Germany and Switzerland
Allianz Commercial has appointed Gordan Stanojević as the new Regional Head of Distribution for the Germany and Switzerland region. Effective immediately, Stanojević takes over leadership of the entire distribution team and, in his new role, reports directly to Michael Furtschegger, Regional Managing Director for Germany & Switzerland. Furtschegger himself assumed this position only at the beginning of the year.
Stanojević brings 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. For the past eight years, he has been responsible for key distribution tasks as a Key Account Manager at Allianz Commercial. In this function, he managed various clients and brokers, with a particular focus on the Financial Lines and Cyber insurance sectors. Previously, he worked as an Underwriter for Financial Lines at AGCS in Munich and as a Claims Handler at HDI-Gerling.
"I am very much looking forward to the new challenge and the opportunity to further expand the successful collaboration with our clients and partners," commented Gordan Stanojević. "With Allianz Commercial, we are excellently positioned to generate growth. I will now tackle this task together with the team."
Michael Furtschegger, Regional Managing Director, also praised Stanojević's work over the past years: "Gordan has proven to be a valuable part of our team and has done an excellent job. I am convinced that in his new role, he will further strengthen and expand our market position."
Stanojević succeeds Stephan Geis, who will be leaving the company at his own request.
The Allianz Group consolidated its industrial insurance business under the brand 'Allianz Commercial' last year. Previously, the brand name Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) was used.
Strategic Implications for the Commercial Insurance Market
This leadership appointment at Allianz Commercial signifies a strategic reinforcement of its distribution network in two key European markets: Germany and Switzerland. The role of Regional Head of Distribution is pivotal for driving growth, managing broker relationships, and delivering complex industrial insurance solutions to corporate clients.
Stanojević's extensive background, especially in Financial Lines and Cyber Risk—two of the fastest-growing and most critical segments in commercial insurance—provides him with deep insights into client needs and risk landscapes. His promotion from within underscores Allianz's commitment to leveraging internal talent and institutional knowledge to navigate the competitive commercial insurance market.
For brokers and corporate clients in Germany and Switzerland, this change represents continuity coupled with focused expertise. It reinforces Allianz Commercial's dedication to providing specialized, high-level service and innovative risk transfer solutions for large-scale industrial and commercial enterprises.
Allianz Commercial: A Focused Force in Industrial Insurance
The rebranding from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) to Allianz Commercial marked a strategic simplification to present a unified, powerful front in the global market for large corporate and specialty risks. This leadership appointment is a direct execution of that strategy at a regional level, aiming to capture market share and deepen client relationships through a strengthened distribution leadership.
As businesses face increasingly complex risks—from cyber threats and directors' liabilities to supply chain disruptions—the expertise and strategic direction provided by distribution leaders like Stanojević become crucial. His appointment is a signal to the market that Allianz Commercial is investing in leadership with hands-on experience to guide clients through these challenges.
