If you're an insurance broker or agent, you know that the quality of your partnerships with insurers can make or break your business. A recent study, "Makler-Champions 2026" (Broker Champions 2026), conducted by ServiceValue in collaboration with Versicherungsmagazin, provides valuable insights into which property and casualty (P&C) insurers are most broker-oriented. This is similar to how US P&C insurance companies like State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, or Liberty Mutual are evaluated by independent agents based on their support, commission structures, and ease of doing business.

The study focuses on the so-called Service Value "P", which measures the quality of the partnership across key performance dimensions. It captures the concrete value insurers provide to brokers' businesses. The index is composed of three areas: Integration (how well an insurer's processes and services fit into a broker's workflow), Enablement (how much the insurer's services contribute to the broker's sales success), and Added Value (the extra benefits beyond the product itself). These components are combined into an overall score, which forms the basis for the study's awards. Insurers are grouped into performance categories within their respective sectors, with only the top performers receiving Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards. This is akin to how US insurance rating agencies evaluate carriers on service and financial strength.

For this analysis, we're focusing on a single question from the study: "How do you rate the broker orientation of [insurer] in the property and casualty insurance sector?" The survey was conducted online with 1,124 insurance brokers between September 2025 and January 2026. Brokers rated insurers on a five-point scale from "very good" to "poor." The results were then converted into an index value from 0 to 100 points. High scores indicate that many brokers positively rated an insurer's broker orientation. These values reflect the average perception of brokers, not an objective measurement—similar to how J.D. Power surveys measure customer satisfaction in the US insurance market.

In the following gallery, we present the top-ranked P&C insurers for broker orientation. For each company, we also provide selected key figures and structural characteristics to help you understand their market position. Additionally, we indicate whether and in which category the respective providers were awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze in the overall study. A good performance in a single category doesn't always translate to a top overall rating. Whether you're a broker comparing carriers for your clients, or a consumer looking for a reliable insurer, understanding which companies are truly broker-friendly can help you build more effective partnerships.
